“What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling fucking sweaters telling you he sold half a million albums”
“Queen Radio,” Nicki Minaj’s Beats 1 show, is back with another episode. During a no-holds-barred airing of grievances, she doubled down on
attacking Travis Scott about what she believes were illegitimate album sales. (Her new album, Queen , debuted at number 2 on the Billboard chart this week, behind Scott’s album Astroworld .) On Twitter last weekend, Minaj called out Travis Scott for selling merch and tickets for his upcoming Astroworld tour with album downloads and having those count as album sales.
On “Queen Radio,” Minaj said, “What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling fucking sweaters telling you he sold half a million albums, because he fucking didn’t. You stupid fuck. You got your fucking homeboy talking for you and you got your girlfriend selling tour passes. Stop it. Knock it the fuck off.”
“When [Travis] comes along and sells a tour pass that has nothing to do with his fucking music and says he’s sold more than Kanye West and Nas—no you fucking didn’t, keep it the fuck real. I know I’m that bitch, I know I’m Number 1.”
Nicki then continued, “Having said that, none of this is some serious anger shit. No—we are in a time right now where black music is prospering. And I am one of the people who, I’m so excited to see where rap has come from and where we are. But right is right and wrong is wrong.”
Nicki also touted her past fights for
changes in Billboard and RIAA certification requirements for streaming, and lamented not being recognized for helping out artists who benefited. “Some of y’all favorite artists need them streaming points,” she said. “Shout out to Chance the Rapper. Let it be known Onika was one of those people fighting.”
