Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has been allowed to miss Italy’s upcoming friendly with USA.
Jorginho was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes as Italy played out a goalless draw with Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday night, but the 26-year-old has been spared a second international appearance in quick succession.
The midfielder has been given permission to return to Stamford Bridge, with Italy manager Roberto Mancini happy to make changes for Tuesday’s meeting with USA.
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has previously suggested that Jorginho has played too much football this season, with 20 appearances having been made for club and country since August 5.
Chelsea face an important Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and will be keen to have Jorginho ready and available for selection.
Since his move to Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old has made 15 competitive appearances for Chelsea.
